Edexcel A-Level discussion forum
A number of people have been enquiring for information on the latest spec changes within Edexcel A-Level . There is some information on the edexcel website which is helpful. However there seems to be a mood of teacher to teacher enquiry out there. In order to facilitate this I have setup a discussion forum on www.clounagh.org, this is to allow teachers of this spec to discuss and share ideas. We are currently embarking on this new AS with Edexcel here in St Colmans. The coursework element brings the biggest change from the previous Spec. We have decided to take the following approach:
-1.Product Investigation - any res. material product (tables / lamps / chairs / benches /etc.)
2.Product Design + 3.Product.
Manufacture = the same product.
Myself and Robert are of the opinion that if the pupils are going to spend time designing / developing a product then they may as well manufacture it. What are other people doing in other schools ?
I have created a short Coursework Guide for pupils which I will e-mail to Martin so he can put it on the VLE and other people can use it if they wish (its basically the assessment criteria broken down in simple form)
Many thanks for coursework guide Kevin. Quite a number of people are responding to the forum so I hope it can give confidence and clarity to all who teach this specification.
