Microcontroller course.

There is a possibility (depending on demand) of a 2 day course in the use of microcontrollers. This course would be delivered from Parallax America with the venue to be decided (not America!). The Technology team at Clounagh have been contacted by the organiser to raise awareness and gain interest. If you are interested or know someone from another school in another board who may be interested in this proposal, please e-mail patjamison@hotmail.com for more details.
The two day course would cover "hands on" and day 1 focuses on the design principles that go into most common digital devices with the Basic Stamp Activity Kit and what is Microcontroller text. Teacher training will include programming a Microcontroller, Controlling indicator lights, operation of a servo motor, speaker tones and optionally LED displays, as well as monitoring push button contact, dial position and light levels. Day 2 focuses on the Parallax Boe-Bot robot and the robotics with the Boe-Bot text, which are used by the instructors worldwide to enhance Robotics, pre engineering, technology. electronics, and mechatronics courses. The Boe-Bot robot also provides a unique window into understanding the nuts and bolts of autonomous transportation technology. This workshop provides a hands on introduction to the Parallax Boe-Bot robot and its applications in the classroom. All attendees will build, program, test (and take home and continue to experiment with) their own autonomous Boe-Bot robot. The 2 day course is suitable to all teachers and Science-Technology staff and previous knowledge is not essential and anyone with the basic skills and knowledge will find the course easy to complete. The cost of the 2 day training will not exceed £300.00 and paid staff attending will be able to take home their own Micro controller activity kit and Boe-Bot Robot both valued at £250.00 It is hoped the course will run in the last week of May and the First week in June. Attendees will be required to bring their own laptop to the course.
